Estadio Azteca

Estadio Azteca is located in the Coyoacán borough in southern Mexico City. Mexico City International Airport (MEX) is approximately 14 miles northeast. The Metro Línea 2 (Blue Line) stops at Tasqueña station, from which fans can take the Tren Ligero (light rail) to the Estadio Azteca station directly outside the venue. Alternatively, Metrobús Line 1 serves nearby Estadio Azteca stops along Calzada de Tlalpan. Ride-hailing services like Uber and DiDi are widely available but expect heavy congestion on Calzada de Tlalpan and Anillo Periférico on event days. Parking is available in surrounding lots but spaces are very limited.

Coyoacán, the charming colonial-era neighborhood surrounding the stadium, is famous for its colorful plazas, the Frida Kahlo Museum, craft markets, and traditional cantinas around Jardín Centenario and Plaza Hidalgo. La Roma and La Condesa (about 20 minutes north) are Mexico City's trendiest neighborhoods, with tree-lined streets full of chef-driven restaurants, mezcalerías, rooftop bars, and boutique hotels along Avenida Álvaro Obregón and Tamaulipas. The Zona Rosa in Colonia Juárez offers lively nightlife, international cuisine, and proximity to Paseo de la Reforma with easy Metro access.

Estadio Azteca enforces FIFA event-day bag restrictions, which are stricter than regular Liga MX policies. Only small bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12" are permitted, and FIFA typically requires them to be clear or transparent for World Cup matches. Small clutch-style purses or wallets are allowed. Backpacks, large handbags, coolers, and professional camera equipment are prohibited. Medically necessary items and small infant-care bags are permitted subject to thorough inspection. Umbrellas are typically not allowed; check FIFA guidelines before attending as policies may be updated closer to the tournament.
